Summary of 2007 events

Spring/Summer Events

The summer concert consisted of a medley of folk songs, not just from the West country, but from regions of England from where some of the Quire  members originated. There were also  some songs related to the 2006 duocentenary of the birth of I. K. Brunel, the famous British engineer. This was a departure from the norm but I feel it went very well and both the quire and audiences enjoyed themselves.

Autumn/Winter Events

After the usual annual trip to Ludlow Medieval Fayre in November, well attended Christmas concerts were  given at churches and village halls throughout the region in December.

These included  North Cadbury (where we supported the Yetties),  Martock parish Church,

Bishop  Lydeard parish church,  Odcombe Church,  David hall, Norton village hall and The Minster at Ilminster.

The highlight of these concerts was undoubtably our rendition of  ‘Shepherds in their Field Abiding’ a fantastic anthem specially commissioned for the Quire, composed by the talented John Kirkpatrick.

This work had many verses and was hard work to learn but the outcome was a fantastic song which was enthusiastically received by our audiences.
