A Community Folk Choir based in South Somerset England
Stanchester Quire is a community choir composed of about 50-
We sing English folk songs and carols drawn mainly from the West Country stretching from Cornwall in the west to Dorset and Wiltshire in the west and Gloucester shire in the north
We come from all walks of life and sing in harmony normally without musical accompaniment. Many members do not read music, but all share the enjoyment of singing these wonderful songs.
We perform concerts around the region and beyond and have featured in several CD recordings.
Why Quire and not Choir?
The Quire were formerly the musicians and singers in the West Gallery of the church. They led the music.
